happy birthday chipotle 2009
This is chipotle’s birthday. They didn’t do anything to celebrate. I’m kind of amazed at all the different traditional celebratory events that they are letting drop this year. I wonder if it’s part of the broader move to a more standard marketing strategy.
Regardless, I celebrated the birthday at a pretty solid location. The individual who was working the cash register didn’t even know that today is the birthday (she did admit to being new…).
barbacoa burrito at alameda, chat with chipotle manager and new tiles
They replaced the stainless steel around the kitchen with plain white tiles (I’ve heard these referred to as subway tiles). It’s much brighter - to the point that it feels too bright. There happened to be a Chipotle “regional manager” looking lady standing by the entry so I asked her about it. She said that it’s much easier to clean this and it is something they are rolling out as part of their new marketing style. Easier to clean sounds good to me - I’m amazed at it, but there is an industry around cleaning oil off of stainless steel in the kitchen - so that’s obviously a problem worth fixing.
barbacoa and chips - delicious
It’s nice to be back home and having a delicious burrito and chips. mmmmm.
back to alameda
I haven’t been to this store in a while - the folks who used to be in the kitchen or down the line are now handling the tortillas, greeting customers, and/or doing the checkout.
chicken burrito (free burritos for a year?)
I heard you can get free burritos for a year if you sponsor the Chipotle biking team at the $900 level. May have to look into this…
